polimasa

polimasa is an object developed since 2012, within and for ateliercetrei's office space, that easily transcends its boundaries by being able to become both the center of a dining or conference room. It explores the possibility of creating a structure composed of only diagonals - the empty space present in a classic, four legged, frame structure supporting most tables. The resulting polygonal node structure is paired with an elliptic table top, making the table subject to a triangles meet ellipse dialectic. The shape of the tabletop creates a new set of relationships amongst the people sharing moments around the table.

polimasa works on the 'one size fits all' principle with the ellipse tabletop measuring 2350*1300mm standing at a height of up to 755mm. It sits up to 8 people.

The ellipse shaped table top comes in 40mm thick Romanian oak, 20mm thick Carrara marble and 12mm tempered glass as well as bespoke from a large array of other table top materials.

The table top is supported by a performant ultra-light spatial polygonal node structure, consisting of 20 cylindrical baguettes, only 20mm in diameter that come in a choice of beech or ash.

The baguettes are connected by 9 three-dimensional steel sheet nodes. The spatial polygonal node structure gives the table lightness, elegance and flexibility.
